How to Link Data From Another Database in Access 2003
Linking data allows you to create and maintain one database that can be used simultaneously in different applications. Access will automatically create a database and link data from another open application.

Locate the source database and identify the table you want to link. Close the source database. Verify that no database is open in exclusive mode.

Open the destination database and check that it is read-only. Click "Access," which is on the "External Data" tab in the "Import" group.

Type the name of the source database in the "File Name" text box. Click "Link to Data Source by Creating a Linked Table," then "OK."

Select the table you want to link to in the "Linked Tables" dialog box. Click the box again to cancel the selection.

Click "OK" to finish. Open the linked tables in datasheet view to verify that everything looks correct.

Tips & Warnings
Data appear as a linked table with an icon in the database window.
Usable formats are dBase files, spreadsheets, text files and paradox tables.
You cannot update or delete data linked to an Excel worksheet.
