The Meade Lightbridge Truss Tube Dobsonian Telescope comes equipped with a red dot finder instead of the traditional crosshair configuration of other telescopes. The red dot finder allows for a simpler alignment procedure. Attaching the finder takes only a few precise steps.

Things You’ll Need:

  • Meade Lightbridge Truss Tube Dobsonian Telescope

Step1
Make sure the rubber feet of the base rest on the floor.
Step2
Verify that the entire assembly easily moves up and down, and left to right.
Step3
Make sure the eyepiece has been installed on the telescope.
Step4
Assemble the red dot finder.
Step5
Slide the red dot bracket on top of the dot finder scope.
Step6
Locate the two hex screws and tighten them with the hex wrench included with your telescope.
Step7
Find the red dot mounting groove on the telescope.
Step8
Slide the red dot finder bracket over the OTA mounting groove.
Step9
Align the red dot finder per the instructions on eHow.

Tips & Warnings

  • Utilize only finger strength to tighten and adjust the truss knobs. Overtightening can cause stripping and other damage.
  • Do not overtighten the bolts on the system. Overtightening can strip the threads, forcing you to reorder the screws or the inserts from the factory.
