PowerPoint lets you create professional-looking business presentations, but it doesn't guarantee they will look good--sloppy slides make for a sloppy presentation. You can sharpen your slides by evenly spacing the objects.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • PowerPoint 2003
  • Computer

Step1
Start up PowerPoint.
Step2
Open a blank slide template.
Step3
Go to the "View" tab on the toolbar and select "Guides," then follow the prompts to line up objects precisely.
Step4
For small adjustments, select an object, and then use the keyboard’s arrow keys to move it. You can nudge the object in increments of .02 inches.
Step5
Select two or more objects from the "Draw" toolbar. Choose "Align or Distribute," and then select one of the "Align" options to ensure your objects neatly lay out.
Step6
Select any number of objects. Click "Draw," and then "Align or Distribute." Choose either "Distribute Horizontally" or "Distribute Vertically" to arrange the objects evenly.
Step7
Save your changes before exiting PowerPoint.

Tips & Warnings

  • To add a guide, press the Control key and drag the guide onto your workspace with the mouse.
  • When nudging objects, press the ALT button to maintain greater control.
  • Save your work.
