How to Crop Graphics in PowerPoint 2003

By using graphics to enhance you PowerPoint presentation, you can capture the audience's attention and enhance their comprehension. However, some images may be too large for your slides. You might have to crop a graphic until it fits. Follow these steps.

Things You'll Need:

  • PowerPoint 2003
  • Computer
  1. Step 1

    Start up PowerPoint 2003.

  2. Step 2

    Go to the main menu and select "Blank Text Plate."

  3. Step 3

    Click the "Insert" tab located on the toolbar.

  4. Step 4

    From the Insert menu, select a media type: picture, photo or clip art. Browse until you find the image you want.

  5. Step 5

    Click on the graphic; it will be automatically inserted into your slide.

  6. Step 6

    Click on the graphic until a border appears around it. Place the cursor over the border and drag it in or out, depending on whether you want to enhance or diminish its size.

Tips & Warnings
  • To move the graphic to another spot on the slide, click on it, hold the mouse button and drag the image to its destination.
  • Once the graphic attains the right size, save the template to avoid losing your work.
  • Cropping a graphic, especially a photograph, may affect its quality. Consider changing the resolution.
