Zooming a Word document makes it easier to spot mistakes. Anyone afflicted with poor vision can also use the feature to examine a document without changing the font size. Here's how zoom in or out in Word 2003.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Word 2003
  • Computer

Step1
Open a Word document.
Step2
Find the "Zoom" arrow tool next to the box with a number and percent sign in the tool bar line at the top of the page.
Step3
Click this arrow and scroll up to increase the percentage. This will zoom into the page.
Step4
Click the arrow again, scroll down and select a smaller number. This will zoom out.
Step5
Zoom to a specific percentage by highlighting the number in the box with your mouse then typing in a number.
Step6
Click the arrow next to the box and select the original figure (usually 100%) when you are done zooming.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you can't find the percentage box, go to the right-hand side of the tool bar and find the box with two arrows pointing right and one pointing down--the "More Buttons" option. Click and hold on the box until additional toolbar features appear.
  • You also can place your mouse on the line between the toolbars. Click and pull down to make more room to display additional options.
  • Do not click the icon at the top of the page with the magnifying glass. This lets you preview the document before printing.
