How to Adjust the Squelch on the Uniden PC78 Elite CB Radio

Adjusting the squelch on your Uniden PC78 eliminates background noises in the absence of an incoming signal. Follow these steps.

Things You'll Need:

  • Uniden PC78 Elite CB Radio
  1. Step 1

    Check that the power source and microphone are correctly connected to your CB radio.

  2. Step 2

    Verify that the antenna is correctly attached to your CB radio.

  3. Step 3

    Power on your Uniden CB radio.

  4. Step 4

    Turn the volume to an appropriate level.

  5. Step 5

    Find the "Squelch" knob located to the right of the "Power/Volume" knob.

  6. Step 6

    Turn the knob clockwise so your CB will receive only strong signals.

  7. Step 7

    Turn the knob counterclockwise until you detect a hiss.

  8. Step 8

    Now rotate the knob clockwise once again until the hissing abates. Your CB should now receive only clear, strong signals.
