How to Set General Preferences in iTunes

If you use iTunes for playing, purchasing or organizing your media, you can customize it to your preferences. Doing this requires only a few simple clicks. Follow these steps.

Step1
Open iTunes on your desktop.

Step2
In the menu, select "Edit."

Step3
Highlight "Preferences."

Step4
Click on the "General" tab in the middle of the screen.

Step5
Adjust the settings.

Step6
Click on "OK" to close.

Tips & Warnings

  • Once iTunes is launched, fast-access this menu by pressing "ctrl+."
  • You can always return to this menu to make adjustments, so don't be afraid of damaging the iTunes application. However, write down anything you alter so you can change it back if the new settings do not suit your taste.
