To get the most out of your Meade 8-inch Lightbride Truss-Tube Dobsonian telescope, you'll need to insert and adjust the focus of the eyepiece. The telescope will provide years of entertainment and star gazing pleasure for you and your family. Follow these steps to find out how to insert your telescope's eyepiece.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Make sure the base is resting on the feet. The rubber feet should be on the floor.
Step2
Verify that the entire assembly will move up and down easily.
Step3
Verify that the entire assembly will move easily left and right.
Step4
Release the pressure on the thumbscrew prior to inserting the eyepiece into the receiving socket.
Step5
Place the 1/4-inch eyepiece into the receiving fixture.
Step6
Now finger-tighten the thumbscrew to secure the eyepiece.
Step7
If you have a deluxe eyepiece remove the inch and a quarter eyepiece holder.
Step8
Place the 2-inch eyepiece into the receiving hole vacated by the inch and a quarter holder.
Step9
Finger-tighten the set screw.

Tips & Warnings

  • Only use finger strength to tighten and adjust the truss knobs. Overtightening can cause stripping and other damage to occur.
  • Be careful to not overtighten the bolts on the system. Overtightening the bolts can strip the threads. You'll have to reorder the screws or the inserts from the factory.
