How to Start a Blog on TypePad

TypePad is a blogging service geared for small businessess and other professionals. To start a blog at TypePad, follow the steps below. Then you can set up your blog design and preferences and start blogging.

Instructions

      Go to TypePad's website. (See resources below).

      Click on either the "Sign Up" link or the "Free Trial" button. Both go to the same page.

      Fill out the new "Create Your Account" page. Choose a member name here that you'll use to log into your account. The member name can be up to 25 characters with no spaces.

      Next choose a password. Retype the password in the next box to confirm it.

      Now you'll need to enter the following information: First and last name, email address and your birthday. You'll need to confirm email address by typing it again.

      The next section is "Create Your Blog Address." This will be the URL address of your blog.

      Next enter the referral code someone gave you. If no one did, leave this box blank.

      Check the boxes you want in the "Review and Agree to the Terms of Service" section. You have to check the first box to state that you agree to the terms of service. The second box comes checked already to receive TypePad news. If you check the third and last box, you'll receive offers from authorized TypePad parnters.

      When you're finished with this page, click the "Next" button.

      On the new page you'll need to choose your plan: "TypePad Basic," "TypePad Plus" or "TypePad Pro."

      Next choose your billing plan, either monthly or annually. (You get 2 free months if you choose an annual billing plan).

      Now you'll need to enter your credit card and billing address information.

      When you're done, click on the "Next" button at the bottom of the page.

      You can now start designing your blog at TypePad. Start blogging!

Tips & Warnings

  • In Step 8, you have to read and agree to the terms of service. You don't have to get the news or offers.

  • Even though TypePad offers a free, 30-day trial, you still need to enter your billing information. It's up to you to cancel it before the 30 days ends if you don't want to continue. Otherwise, you'll be billed.
