Don't spend 47 dollars on that scented salt scrub. That's how much they're going for these days, right? No, no. Just buy some Morton's sea salt, get yourself a goblet--or even a bowl, it's just more satisfying to write 'goblet'--fish your baby oil out of the recesses of the black hole you like to call your bathroom drawer and you're on your way. The sum total of each slough-session is more like 47 cents.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • salt
  • baby oil
  • water
  • goblet or bowl
  • rosewater or vanilla

Step1
Pour a cup of sea or kosher salt in a container of some kind. I use Morton's kosher--the granules are large enough to have uber-sloughing powders, but not rocky enough to scrape my impossibly delicate dermis.
Step2
Squirt in about a half cup of the baby oil and swirl together. You might need a splash of water to give it a more malleable texture.
Step3
Take the whole concoction to the loo and have at it. If you want to feel less "pauper/skinflint" and more "home-spun/resourceful" you could add a little drip of vanilla extract or rosewater to enliven the olfactory experience of your scrub. When did I become such a freakin miser? I'm seeking therapy.

on 7/16/2007 You go for it, Kampy. We like men who look after themselves. And you can always tell your lady it's all for her.

on 1/16/2007 Nice tip. Can boys use salt scrub too, or does that somehow make us less manly? ;-)
