A Meade 8-inch LightBridge truss tube Dobsonian telescope is a great system to view the stars with at any time of night. You'll be able to see virtually any of the stars in the sky. Rather than the traditional crosshair configuration, it comes equipped with a red dot finder. With it, you can align the telescope easier. Follow these steps to find out how attach it to your Meade 8-inch LightBridge truss tube Dobsonian telescope.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Make sure the base is resting on its feet. The rubber feet should be on the floor.
Step2
Verify that the entire assembly will move up and down easily.
Step3
Verify that the entire assembly will move easily left and right.
Step4
Verify that the eyepiece is installed on the telescope.
Step5
Assemble the red dot finder.
Step6
Slide the red dot bracket on top of the dot finder scope.
Step7
Locate the two hex screws. Tighten them with the hex wrench that comes with your telescope.
Step8
Find the red dot mounting groove on the telescope.
Step9
Slide the red dot finder bracket over the OTA mounting groove.
Step10
Align the red dot finder per the instructions on eHow.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use only finger strength to tighten and adjust the truss knobs. Overtightening can cause stripping and other damage.
  • Be careful to not overtighten the bolts on the system. Overtightening the bolts can strip the threads. You'll have to reorder the screws or the inserts from the factory.
