A Meade 12-inch LightBridge truss tube Dobsonian telescope is a great system to view the stars with at any time of night. You'll be able to see virtually any of the stars in the sky. Before you can, you need to properly place the tube onto the telescope. Follow these steps to find out how.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Make sure the base is resting on its feet. The rubber feet should be on the floor.
Step2
Now install the rear OTA onto the base structure. The bearings should fit snugly into the bottom base assembly.
Step3
Remove the dust cover from the mirror to expose it.
Step4
Release the pressure on the bottom truss knobs.
Step5
Place the truss fixture into the slot sets.
Step6
Now finger tighten the truss knobs.
Step7
Place the second mirror on top of the truss fixture.
Step8
Tighten the top set of truss knobs. Only use your fingers! Don't use any tools.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use only finger strength to tighten and adjust the truss knobs. Overtightening can cause stripping and other damage.
  • Be careful to not overtighten the bolts on the system. Overtightening the bolts can strip the threads. You'll have to reorder the screws or the inserts from the factory.
