A Meade 10-inch LightBridge truss tube Dobsonian telescope is a great system to view the stars with any time of night. You'll be able to see virtually any of the stars in the sky. Before you can, you have to first assemble its base. Follow these steps to find out how.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
With the base side panels facing each other, line up the screw holes on the right side.
Step2
Repeat alignment with the left side of the base panels.
Step3
Turn the base panels to the side. Align the circular panel with the 7 pre-drilled reference holes. Place 6 screws around the outer holes. Leave the center hole empty so you can use it in the next step.
Step4
With the base still remaining on its side, place the center bearing bushing into the center hole.
Step5
Place the circular base that has 3 teflon pads against the bottom of the assembly. The center bearing bushing from the previous step should now be in the center of the circular pad.
Step6
Attach a washer around the bearing bushing. Place a bolt and small washer around the center of the bearing bushing. Finger tighten the nut and bolt.
Step7
Place the 3 feet onto the bottom of the circular base plate.
Step8
Turn the base onto the bottom.
Step9
Rotate the base verifying that it can move freely.

Tips & Warnings

  • If the base doesn't move freely, make sure to loosen or tight the bolts in all of the steps above.
  • Be careful to not overtighten the bolts on the system. Overtightening the bolts can strip the threads. You'll have to reorder the screws or the inserts from the factory.
