How to Set the Squelch on the Cobra 25 NW ST CB Radio

Contributor
By eHow Contributing Writer

Squelch affects the background noise you hear in the absence of a signal. If you are receiving background noise and do not have an incoming signal, adjust the squelch. Continue making adjustments until the noise goes away.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Rotate the Squelch control on the front panel of your CB Radio in a counterclockwise direction until you hear noise.

  2. Step 2

Turn the Squelch control just slightly until you hear the noise stop.

  3. Step 3

Turning the squelch to the maximum extent possible allows only very strong signals to enter your CB Radio.

  4. Step 4

If the squelch is turned counterclockwise to the fullest extent, all signals will be allowed in to your CB Radio.

Tips & Warnings
  • Squelch acts as a control gate for signals coming into your CB Radio.
