Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
View the light in the child's bedroom at various times of day. Be sure to position your blinds or drapery as they will be on the average day at different times in the bedroom.
Step2
Take note of dark spots in the room that may need to be illuminated. For example, if your child has play time with trucks at a specific point on a daily basis, be sure that area is well lit so that he can enjoy his play time.
Step3
If you have bedside tables, you will want to have appropriate lamps on them. Be sure that the lamps you choose not only reflect the style of the bedroom, but the scale of the bedside tables.
Step4
You will want overhead light to be somewhat soft in a child's bedroom.
Step5
Some people enjoy having a ceiling fan attached to the lighting in their children's bedrooms. If you live in a temperate or humid climate, children may enjoy having a ceiling fan for hot and humid nights.
Step6
Allow as much natural light into the bedroom as possible. Natural light is soothing and can help a child relax and unwind.
Step7
Consider adding a whimsical light in your child's room. Looking at the same whimsical light from the time of infancy through the childhood years can create soothing memories for later in life.
