How to Import Songs into iTunes

With iTunes you can play your favorite CDs, listen to Internet radio stations and purchase music online. You can add all of these to your iTunes, organize them however you would like, and then listen to music on your computer using iTunes as your player. You can also add music from iTunes to your iPod and take your music selection with you.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Open iTunes.
Step2
To import from a music CD, insert the CD in your computer.
Step3
Click on the name of the CD in the Source list. You can uncheck any songs you don't want to import.
Step4
Click the "Import CD" button.
Step5
When all the songs you selected are imported, click the "Eject Disc" button.
Step6
To import songs on your computer from the iTunes File Menu click "Add to Library".
Step7
Select the file where your songs are located.
Step8
The files will be imported into iTunes.
Step9
To import songs you have purchased online, simply follow the directions where you purchased the songs.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you don't have iTunes, you can get free downloads for both Mac and Windows.
  • When importing songs from a computer file, you can also use "drag and drop." Just open both iTunes and the folder where your music files are located. Select the files you want to transfer and drag them to the "Library" icon in iTunes.
  • If`you're importing from a CD and decide not to import all the songs on the CD you can always go back later and import other songs.
  • Do not import or trade music from CDs you don't personally own. This is a violation of the United States copyright law.
