How to Attach and Balance the Optical Tube of Your Meade DS-2000 Series Reflecting Telescope

The optical tube is the main optical component that gathers the light from distant objects and brings this light to a focus for observation with the eyepiece.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Replace the optical tube into the cradle ring.
Step2
Tighten the cradle ring lock knob so that it holds the optical tube loosely; do not tighten the cradle ring lock knob at this point.
Step3
Slide the tube back and forth until you find a position where the tube remains horizontal (without tipping up and down).
Step4
Tighten the cradle ring lock knob firmly.

Tips & Warnings

  • Handle the optical tube with care.
  • Never point the optical tube directly at the sun.
