Observing objects with your telescope is a fascinating hobby for many. You will be able to see all sorts of objects you have only read about in books or seen in movies. By following these steps, a whole new world will open up to you through your telescope.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Loosen the R.A. and Dec. locks separately. Now practice moving the telescope with each axis unlocked one at a time and then together.
Step2
Use the viewfinder to find an object to observe. When it is centered on the crosshairs, tighten the RA and Dec. axes.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be sure you have aligned the viewfinder before attempting to find objects in the sky.
  • Practice viewing terrestrial objects like street signs before viewing objects in the sky.
  • The smaller the focal length of the eyepiece as expressed in millimeters, the higher the magnification.
  • Always start observing an object using the lower power eyepiece such as the SP 26 mm.
