It can be a struggle to keep up with the constant tide of new iPod and iPod-related products flooding the market these days. There are speakers that can plug into anything and fit anywhere, different iPods and different software. However, if you are plenty happy with your current iPod, here is how to find the latest iPod updaters for Macs to keep it current.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Download and install the latest version of iTunes. Often, this will take care of any and all updates needed for your iPod software.

  2. Step 2

Visit the Apple Web site (see below) and check the iPod updates page. Check to see if any of the downloads are relevant. Often, Apple will not have updates for all types of iPods, or the updates will be covered by the new version of iTunes.

  3. Step 3

Download the appropriate update. When you locate your type of iPod on the list of devices that software has been updated for, download the update in the upper right corner.

  4. Step 4

Install the update. When the download is complete, open the file and install the update.

Tips & Warnings
  • Check periodically (every month or so) for new updates to old iPod software on the Apple site.
  • Only download updates from the Apple Web site to avoid software conflicts and viruses.
