Buying songs directly from the iTunes music store not only saves you a trip to your local store, but it comes instantly available to burn onto your own CD or load into your MP3 player. Shopping for any song you wish to purchase is simple and affordable as well. Follow these steps in order to buy a song from the iTunes store.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Click on the iTunes icon on your computer to open the application. Search through Apple’s Web site (see below) and download it for free if you don’t already have it installed.
Step2
Select the “Music Store” button in the “Source” list in iTunes. It is located six icons beneath the top of the source list. This opens up the iTunes music store.
Step3
Sign into your iTunes music store account.
Step4
If you have not already established an account with iTunes, select the “Create New Account” tab in the upper middle portion of the pop up screen.
Step5
Select “Agree” in the Terms and Conditions portion of the Account Creation section, indicating you acknowledge the terms of use of the music store.
Step6
Fill in your email address, password, password verification and secret question and answer where prompted. Click on “Continue” to advance to the last signup screen.
Step7
Have your credit card or bank card on hand to type in your credit card number, security code and expiration date, and the mailing address of your card’s account holder. Click “Done.”
Step8
Search for a song by typing its title or part of the title in the “Search” option at the top left of the music store. You can also use the “Power Search” option, which gives you the ability to search by the album’s name, the artist/composer or both.
Step9
Select the song(s) you wish to purchase, and click on the “Buy Song” gray icon box at the right of the listing. You can also click on “Cancel,” which will bring you back to the song selection screen.
Step10
The purchased song is downloaded into your iTunes music library, and will be listed by title. Your credit card or bank card is charged for the song.

Tips & Warnings

  • Set a budget to avoid overspending. Only purchase albums within a budget, keeping in mind each song will cost 99 cents.
  • Keep or print out the email you get when you create an account. It has your log-in information which you may need to reference at a later point.
  • Albums, movies, podcasts and TV shows vary in price. Nothing in the store is free unless it is labeled as such.
  • Music or shows with explicit language or topics will be identified, but not removed.
