Follow these simple instructions to send a fax from a computer.

1. Turn your computer on and make sure it’s hooked up to the Internet. You can’t do anything until you’re online.
2. Find an Internet fax program by inserting these key words into your favorite browser. Before downloading, make sure you have the right system requirements and that the monthly/annual payments are reasonable.
3. Download an Internet fax program. There are a number of programs that allow users to send and receive faxes (most of the time) through their email accounts.
4. Open your Internet fax program, locate the icon for creating a new fax and click it.
5. Follow the prompts for entering your information, the recipients’ names, their fax numbers and remaining personal or professional information.
6. Continue following prompts, or if need be, locate the icon which allows you to attach a file if you’re sending something from your computer.
7. Click the "Send" icon when you’ve fully prepared your fax.

• Many programs also come with a cover page tool which allows you to add a cover page to your faxes. If yours does not, there are free cover page creator tools available online at a number of Web sites.
• Be careful when you buy your Internet fax program. Programs offering free faxes might be a scam. Confirm your program's legitimacy by telephoning the company.
