Internet faxing has reached the mainstream of both business and personal faxing. It’s easy, fast and can be accomplished from your computer without the expense of a fax machine and its attendant accessories. Here’s how to prepare a document to be sent as an Internet fax.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Prepare a text file by simply saving it to your hard drive. There are no special procedures other than it has to be saved to your computer in order that you can find it with your Internet fax program later.
Step2
Scan a document in on the highest resolution your scanner offers. If your fax program won’t send a high quality file, you can always downsize it later.
Step3
Save whatever file that you’re sending to your hard drive.
Step4
Open your Internet fax program, create a new fax and attach the document you’ve saved.
Step5
Enter the recipients’ contact information and click “Send.”

Tips & Warnings

  • Pictures sent over an Internet fax are rarely as high of quality as emailed pictures. If quality is important and email is an option, you should opt for email.
  • Beware of any Internet fax provider who offers their services for free. This is almost certainly a scam, though there are certain providers who will provide a free trial period of small number of trial faxes.
