Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
For video, opt for the iPod. The Nano supports picture storage, but doesn’t playback video.
Step2
If you’ve got a lot of media, opt for the iPod. The iPod comes with an 80 gig hard drive which is 10 times that of the top of the line 8 gig iPod Nano.
Step3
For accessories, opt for the iPod. Although there are plenty of accessories for the iPod Nano, there are still many more for the original, larger iPod.
Step4
If price is an object and all you want to do is listen to music, opt for the iPod Nano. It’s $100 less, and eight gigs is a lot of songs (2,000 on average) which is larger than most people’s whole libraries.
Step5
Go to a local electronics store, bring your headphones and a notebook, and test drive both of them. Feel them out and see which you’re more comfortable using.
Step6
If fashion comes first, go with the Nano. Its size and array of colors (pink, blue, green, grey and black compared to the black or white iPod) are all the rage.
Step7
Consider battery life. The larger screen and video capacity of the iPod shorten its battery life (says Mac) to 20 hours while the smaller iPod Nano has a 24 hour battery life.
