If you need to set the time on an iPod, the best option is to hook up the portable music player to your computer and sync the time settings. Sometimes you can not make it to your computer, and in that case you can set the time on your iPod manually, using the click wheel and the center button. Follow these steps to set the time on an iPod.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Turn on the iPod or access the main menu. Scan down the menu listings for “Settings.” Use the click wheel to highlight “Settings.” This will pull up a side-bar menu of options for the iPod.

  2. Step 2

Pick “Date & Time” from the list of options on the side-bar menu. Once again you will be given a list of options. Highlight “Set Date & Time” using the click wheel and then select it using the center button.

  3. Step 3

Use the click wheel to change the current minutes setting. When you are finished, press the center button to move on to the hours setting.

  4. Step 4

Use the click wheel to change the current hours setting. As before, use the center button when you are finished. You have set the time on your iPod.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you are traveling with your iPod, you can select a different time zone to display. Get the “Date & Time” menu up and then select the “Set Time Zone” option. You may also set the iPod to display a clock for a different time zone so that you know what time it is back home. Go in the “Extras” menu and select “New Clock.”
  • You can choose to set the clock in 12-hour or 24-hour time. From the “Date & Time” menu, select “Time” and then click on the center button to switch between the two. The displayed time changes into the selected format.
  • Setting the time manually is the least accurate method of changing the time. Your computer, if hooked up to the Internet, will have the most accurate time available. Use the sync feature to set the time on your iPod when you can.
