You can skip the fax machine altogether when you send an Internet fax using e-mail. As long as you have the document stored on your personal computer, you can attach it to an e-mail, which is sent to your recipient just like normal. Follow these steps to send an Internet fax using e-mail.

Set up an Internet fax account with a service that provides Internet faxing through e-mail. You may need to configure e-mail software such as Outlook or Eudora to work most efficiently with the Internet fax service.

Open your e-mail account and create a message. The body of your e-mail will appear as the notes to the recipient of your Internet fax.

Attach the documents that you want to fax over the Internet to the body of the e-mail.

Type in the recipient's fax number in the "To:" field. Depending on the Internet fax service that you are using, you may have to add the service's extension to the recipient's fax number.

Put information in the Subject field that you want to appear in the fax header. Now, hit the "Send" button.
