How to Use Yahoo! Gift Finder to Find a Gift

Choosing a gift for someone special isn’t always easy. Fortunately, technology comes to the rescue! Yahoo! and ChoiceStream have teamed up to make it easy for you to find a gift for almost anyone for almost any occasion. In just 4 simple steps, you can pick your recipient, define your relationship, choose a personality type and voila! Just like that, you’ll have a list of appropriate gifts in your price range–complete with links to shops and Web sites where you can make your purchase online.

Things You’ll Need:

• Computer with Internet access

1. Navigate to the Yahoo! Gift Finder site (see Resources).
2. Choose the gift giving occasion. Click on the category that best fits the occasion for which you want to buy a gift.
3. Choose an age range and gender. This page will show appropriate age ranges and genders for the occasion you selected. Click on the category into which your gift recipient fits.
4. On the next screen, enter the relationship of the gift recipient to you.
5. Choose a phrase to describe your recipient and their lifestyle. Don’t worry if they seem to fit more than one category–you’ll have a chance to edit your choice on the next screen.
6. "Recommended Selections" are shown in a grid of boxes with pictures in them. Each selection is the "Top Recommendation" in the category shown in the blue bar at the top of the box. To see more gifts in each category, click on the category name in the blue header or on "more like this."
7. The "My Selections" box in the upper right corner shows the selections that you’ve chosen. In that box, you can change the "Lifestyle" choice by clicking on the "Edit" button, or by clicking on the current "Lifestyle" choice. That will open a small menu box. Just click on your new choice and wait for a new selection of gifts to be loaded.
8. The "Save my selections" in the "My Selections" box allows you to save your choices so that, next time you come back, you don’t have to go through the entire selection process again.
9. The "Related Brands" box lists brand names that are related to the search that you just did. Clicking on any of the brand names in the box will do a search for reviews and sources for items from that company or brand name.

Tips & Warnings

• The "Related Stores" box will take you to Yahoo! stores that stock products that are in the recommended list.
• To save the gift to a shopping list click on "Save this Product."
• Bookmark the Yahoo! Gift Finder page to make it easier to find. There’s currently no easy way to navigate to it.
• Keep your personal information safe when shopping online. Yahoo! is a trusted site, but be sure that you’re on a secure page before you enter any credit card details or personal info. Better yet, take advantage of an online payment provider like Google Shopping Cart or Paypal to keep your personal info private.
