Once you’ve set up your blog and made sure it’s listed in Blog Search, you are probably interested in learning all about Blog Search and all the different things you can do with this neat combined function of Blogger and Google. One cool feature of Blog Search is that you can actually subscribe to Blog Search’s search results. What does this mean? Well, let’s say you have a particular topic or subject about which you are very passionate, and you’re always interested in what other blogs and bloggers have to say about it. This is essentially the primary function of Blog Search—to allow bloggers to search for other blogs and blog posts. Once you perform the search, a bunch of search results will come up. You may decide to tweak your keyword search or advanced options to get the search results you want. Once you do, instead of performing this exact same search every single time you want to be updated and informed of new content, you have the option of subscribing to those search results, so that the updates come to you. Sound complicated? If you know how to subscribe to feeds, it’s a piece of cake. If you don’t, it just takes a little time to learn the process. Read on to find out how to subscribe to Blog Search search results.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • Internet access
Step1
Go to Blog Search, either through the Google link, the Blogger link, your Blogger dashboard or any NavBar on any BlogSpot blog. Links are listed in the Resources section below.
Step2
Type in your keywords into the text box and hit “Search Blogs.” See Step 3 for an alternative method.
Step3
Click Advanced Search (Blogger) or Advanced Blog Search (Google) to add more search parameters and narrow the focus of your search (you're more likely to get relevant search results this way).
Step4
Once you are satisfied with the search results that come up, scroll down to the bottom of the page on Blogger (for Google, go to left side, close to the top). Here you will find options for subscribing to the search results that you just made.
Step5
Choose whether you would like to subscribe to the top 10 or 100 results, and whether you would like to subscribe using either Atom or RSS as your XML format.
Step6
Click “Learn more about feeds” in the yellow boxed paragraph on the top of the new page that comes up, if you want to learn more about feeds before you subscribe.
Step7
Sort your results by date, title or author (top right corner), if you want to rearrange or sort your results differently before you subscribe to them.
Step8
Click “Subscribe to this feed” in the top yellow box once you’re ready to subscribe to the search results.
Step9
Give your feed a name and specify where you want it saved in the small window that pops up.
Step10
Click Subscribe to finish.
