How to Connect an Ipod Nano to a PC

The iPod nano has a slim design and comes in a wide variety of colors. There are different hard drive sizes depending on how much music you want. Read on to learn how to connect an iPod nano to a PC.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

    Make sure the PC is turned on. You can’t transfer data with the power off.

  2. Step 2

    Power up the nano. The iPod nano must be on to be recognized by the PC when it is connected.

  3. Step 3

    Connect the larger end of the USB 2.0 cable to the iPod nano. Place the iPod nano in the dock connector.

  4. Step 4

    Connect the other end of the USB cable to a high-power USB port on the PC.

  5. Step 5

    If correctly connected, iTunes should open automatically.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you are connecting the iPod nano to a laptop or PC, make sure it is plugged in before connecting the iPod nano.
  • Before connecting the USB cable to the iPod nano or PC, be sure there are no foreign objects on the cable or the USB port on the PC.
  • The iPod nano will not work if the USB cable is connected to a low-power USB port.
