Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

    Turn on the iPod nano. It must be on for your Mac to recognize the connection.

  2. Step 2

    Ensure your Mac is on. This way, the iPod nano can connect with iTunes.

  3. Step 3

    Connect the big end of the USB 2.0 cable to the iPod nano or place the iPod nano in the dock connector.

  4. Step 4

    Plug the small end of the USB 2.0 cable into a high-power USB port on the MAC. If you are using the iPod dock connector, plug the the cable into a high-power USB port on the Mac.

  5. Step 5

    The iTunes program will load automatically if everything is connected properly.

Tips & Warnings
  • When using a portable Mac be sure to plug in the Mac in before connecting the iPod nano.
  • It is a good idea to check the USB 2.0 cable for obstructions before connecting it to a port on a Mac.
  • Make sure you connect the iPod nano to a high-power USB port. If you connect the iPod nano to a low-power USB port, it will not work.
