How to Email Items in an Online Store to a Friend

If you are surfing around on the Internet, browsing online stores and you see something that you know your friend would love to know about, you can send that item to your friend via email.

Many online stores allow you to email details about a specific item to your friend’s email address. Look around on the Web page and see if there is a link or button that says “Email to a Friend”.

There are a couple of ways to email a friend something you have found at an online store—see below for instructions.

Use the Send to Friend Link

1. Look on the Web page where the item is located for a button or link that says “Send to a Friend”.

2. Click on the “Send to a Friend” link or button.

3. Enter the name and email address of your friend, and your own name and email address in the fields provided.

4. Enter a message for your friend in the box provided. Here you can tell them about the link you found and why you're sending it to them.

5. Click on Send to send the email to your friend. Your friend will receive an email with the link to the Web page containing the item you wish to show them.

What to do if there's no Send to Friend Link

6. Click and highlight all the text in the address bar on your browser.

7. Hold down the CTRL button on your keyboard then press the C key once to copy all the text. Alternatively, right click your mouse button then select Copy.

8. Open a new email message and put your cursor in the message box.

9. Hold down the CTRL button then press the V key once to paste the text. Alternatively, right click your mouse button then select Paste.

10. Add a message for your friend letting them know what the link is (and whether or not it's safe to open at work!).

11. Finish off your email by adding your friend's email address and a subject line then click Send.

Tips & Warnings

• It’s really simple to send links to your friends via email using either of the two methods explained above. However, make sure that you send a note along with the link to your friend so they don’t delete it or report it as Spam.
• Be cautious when entering your friend’s email address on Web pages. Make sure the page is secure and belongs to a reputable company that won't use your friend's email address for other purposes. Check for a message stating that they won't pass along you or your friend's email addresses to other companies.
