How to Connect an Ipod to a PC

The iPod can be connected to a PC to download music, games, videos and more. The 30 or 80 GB hard drive and long battery life give you hours of portable entertainment. All you need is an iPod and iTunes. Read on to learn how to connect an iPod to a PC.

Things You'll Need:

• USB 2.0 cable
• FireWire 400 cable
• PC with FireWire and high-power USB ports
• iPod
• iDock

1. Turn on your PC.
   

2. Connect your iPod.
   

3. You can connect to a PC using either a FireWire or USB 2.0 cable.
   

4. Connect the iPod by FireWire or by placing it in the iDock.
   

5. Run the FireWire cable from your iPod to the FireWire port on your PC. Or, if you you are using the iDock, run the USB cable from the dock to a high power USB port on your PC.
   

6. If everything is set up correctly, iTunes should automatically open.
   

Tips & Warnings

• You cannot charge an iPod from the computer using a FireWire 400 cable.
• Do not connect an iPod to a low power USB port on your PC. It will not work. The iPod must be connected to a high-power USB port located directly on the computer.
• Your iPod must be fully charged before uploading data. Uploading uses a lot of power and it may result in an incomplete transfer.

on 9/9/2007 Applicable only when using a PC. please make sure that you click on the safely remove usb device before unpplugging your ipod as it will cause you to corrupt your ipod and all the songs will not play but it is still there!
