Faxing a color document from a computer is easy if you have the right software. Faxing from a computer is more cost-efficient than buying a separate fax machine, which also needs paper and toner. Who needs that extra expense? Just follow the steps below and you will be able to fax someone a color document.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Fax software
  • Computer

Step1
Select the color document you want to fax.
Step2
Scan the document, if it's not already saved on your computer. Put the document face-down in your scanner. Open your scanning software. Go to "Scan New Document". Select "Color". Click "Scan". Your scanner will then scan your color document. Click "Accept". It will then scan the document again.
Step3
Save the scan to a place you'll remember, such as "My Documents".
Step4
Open your fax software. Click on “Send Fax". Enter the fax number of the recipient, plus other information if you want to include a cover sheet.
Step5
Attach the file. Go to "My Documents" or the location where you saved the color document. Open the file. It will then attach to the fax.
Step6
Click “Send”. Your color document will be on its way.

Tips & Warnings

  • Refer to your manuals for the scanning and faxing programs you have installed on your computer.
  • When dialing a long-distance number, always enter a “1" and the area code.
  • Long-distance dialing may incur charges.
