How to Replace the Ink Cartridge in a Fax Machine
Replacing the ink cartridge in a fax machine is a similar process for all fax machines. It is also similar to replacing the ink in a common household printer. Follow these steps to replace the ink cartridge in a fax machine.

Check your owner's manual or the ink cartridge already in your fax machine to make sure that you purchase the correct replacement ink.

Turn the power off on your fax machine. All pending fax jobs will be saved in the fax machine's memory.

Open the front or top control panel (depending on your fax machine). Make sure not to force the door open.

Locate the ink cartridge. Gently pull the cartridge out. Set the cartridge aside.

Take the new cartridge out of the package and reserve the packaging. Remove the protective covers over the copper connectors.

Insert the new cartridge into the fax machine with the brand label toward you. Now place the old cartridge into the plastic wrapping and box that you reserved from the new cartridge. Recycle the old cartridge or dispose of it in the garbage.

Close the fax machine's access panel. Turn the fax machine's power back on.

Recycle the ink cartridge if possible. If there are refill stores available in your area, you can get a refilled cartridge for a fraction of the cost of a new one. Many charitable organizations also accept empty cartridges, which they recycle to help them earn money.
