Don’t have a fax machine? Are you away from your fax machine most of the day? If so, there is another way for you to receive faxes. You can receive a fax from a machine to an Internet fax account. You can also manage and store your faxes on your computer. It is easier, less expensive and more accessible to use an Internet fax account than to use a traditional fax machine.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Internet access
  • Computer
  1. Step 1

Search for an Internet fax service. Choose a service that is convenient, easy and reasonably priced.

  2. Step 2

Look for a service that lets you use your own email account. This is the easiest way to receive Internet faxes.

  3. Step 3

Sign up for the service you have chosen. Most services offer several packages or options. Choose the one that best fits your needs.

  4. Step 4

Pay for your service. Most services will accept credit cards. A few services will also accept checks and money orders.

  5. Step 5

After signing up, you will be assigned an inbound fax number. Forward this number to business associates and anyone who will be sending you faxes.

  6. Step 6

Customize your receiving options on your account. Choose the format you want your attachments delivered in. Most common formats are TIFF and PDF.

  7. Step 7

Log in to your service to check your account for new faxes. If you set up your fax account to receive faxes at your email account, check your email account.

  8. Step 8

Double-click on the faxes (which will appear as attachments) to open them. AOL users may have to save attachments to a folder and then open them.

  9. Step 9

Keep backup copies of faxes you receive. You can most likely store your faxes in your Internet fax account. If not, save the important ones to your computer.
