Changing the direction of your telescope involves manipulating the declination and right ascension knobs. Follow these steps to complete the process.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Celestron FirstScope 114 Short Newtonian Equatorial telescope

Step1
You have two choices when moving in declination. To execute large, quick movements, release the declination knob and then re tighten it when you are in position. Use the declination cable for smaller movements.
Step2
For large and quick movements in right ascension, unscrew the right ascension knob. Tighten the knob when you reach your desired position. Or use the right ascension cable for fine adjustments.

Tips & Warnings

  • Choose a position before moving the telescope.
  • When the declination or right ascension cable has reached the stop, do not force it or move it further.
