Attaching the optical tube is just one important step in assembling your Celestron FirstScope 114 Short Newtonian Equatorial telescope.

Things You’ll Need:

  • Celestron FirstScope 114 Short Newtonian Equatorial telescope
Step1
Slightly loosen the screws that hold the telescope's mounting rings in place.

Step2
Move the rings until each is at the same distance as the mounting platform's holes.

Step3
Put the flat portion of the tube on the mounting platform.

Step4
Align the square extrusions' holes with the mounting platform's end holes.

Step5
For this next step, begin with the ring closest to the tube's focuser end. Put the bolt through the mounting platform's hole. Do the same with the other mounting ring.

Step6
Finally, tighten the screws holding the mounting ring.

Tips & Warnings

  • Identify and familiarize yourself with all parts before assembling.
  • Attach the counterweight to the mount before you mount the optical tube.
