Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- Celestron Firstscope 76EQ Telescope
Step1
Replace the lens covers whenever you are not using the telescope. This will keep dust and other contaminants off the lenses.
Step2
Use a can of compressed air, along with a camel's hair brush, to rid the lens surface of dust if the dust becomes thick. A small bit of dust accumulation on a lens is acceptable and normal.
Step3
Return the device to the factory, or take it to a telescope-repair facility, if the mirrors need to be cleaned. Mirrors can only be cleaned by a professional.
Step4
Turn the collimation-adjustment screws at the back of the optical tube or order a collimation tool from the factory, if you think your telescope needs collimation (realigning its optical components, such as lenses, mirrors, prisms and eyepieces, in their proper positions). This could be needed if your telescope has been handled roughly during transport or is dropped.
