Before setting up your Celestron Firstscope 114 Short Telescope's tripod, you will need to locate and unpack the tripod mounting hardware, the tripod accessory tray, the German equatorial mount and the tripod legs.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Locate and unpack the tripod-mounting hardware, tripod accessory tray, German equatorial mount and tripod legs.

  2. Step 2

Hold the center portion of the three tripod legs and extend them six to eight inches.

  3. Step 3

Thread the three tightening screws through the bottom of the legs' brackets and tighten them (until they hold, but not all the way).

  4. Step 4

Secure the flange between the two top portions of the tripod legs on the equatorial mount's tripod head.

  5. Step 5

Put the screw through one of the tripod's legs and flange. The screw should extend out the other side.

  6. Step 6

Put the washer and nut over the screw and tighten them.

  7. Step 7

Repeat steps 5 and 6 with the other two legs.

  8. Step 8

    Fine-tune the tripod's height.

  9. Step 9

Tighten the tightening screws all the way.

Tips & Warnings
  • The legs must be extended before the equatorial mount is attached. If not, the inner legs will be difficult to slide down.
