If you have a strong working knowledge of the sky, you may want to attempt to choose just one star from Autostar's library to align your Meade 12 Inch LX90 GPS Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope. If you use this method, Autostar will not find Home, North or Level for you.

Step1

Go to the Setup menu and choose "Align: One Star." Choose "Enter."

Step2

Put the telescope in Home position by loosening the Dec. lock and setting the optical tube to zero degrees on the Dec.'s setting circle. Retighten the Dec. lock. Be sure the tripod base is level. Now move the telescope's base so the computer control panel is facing south. Undo the R.A. lock and point the telescope's optical tube north by moving it horizontally. Retighten the R.A. lock and select "Enter."

Step3

Select "Enter" a second time. Now you will see Select Star on the display. Use the Scroll keys to find the star you would like to use for your alignment. Press "Enter."

Step4

After the telescope slews to the star, use the arrow keys to center the star in the eyepiece. Select "Enter." Now you are ready to use the telescope's "Go To" capabilities.
