How to Use Your Archos 104 MP3 Player as a Hard Drive

If you have a need for an external hard drive, your Archos MP3 player can function as one if properly configured. This function will allow for quick backups and perfect utilization of your player when you need it. You will also be able to transfer information to and from your Archos MP3 player just like a USB hard drive. To utilize your Archos 104 MP3 player as a hard drive, follow these simple instructions.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    In your windows settings, go to Setup>System>USB Port and change it to Hard drive.

  2. Step 2

    Now plug in the powered up Archos 104.

  3. Step 3

    In your explorer menu, you should now see a f: or e: drive. This is your Archos player.

  4. Step 4

    Drag and drop files as you would to any hard drive.

  5. Step 5

    Press the disconnect button in your bottom menu bar.

  6. Step 6

    Plug in to any other PC and transfer information to and from the unit.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you have Windows XP service pack 1 or higher, your device will be connected as a windows device. You will not have the option to utilize it as a pure USB hard drive.
