How to Use the Keyboard on a Treo Smartphone

With a Treo Smartphone, you can copy the keyboard driver from the expansion card to the handheld and enable the keyboard driver from that location. To copy the file from the card to the handheld and, then, delete the keyboard application from the expansion card, follow the steps below.

Copy the Driver to the Handheld

1. Tap on the Home icon in the Graffiti area.
2. Tap the Menu icon below the Home icon.
3. If the App menu did not display the drop-down list, tap on App at the top of the screen.
4. Tap Copy.
5. In the Copy From: drop-down menu, select the expansion card.
6. In the To: drop-down menu, select Handheld.
7. Scroll down to the Keyboard entry, and tap on it.
8. Tap Copy.
9. When the operation is complete, tap Done.
10. Tap the Home icon and then tap on the Keyboard icon.
11. Make sure the Enable Keyboard option is checked.

Delete the Keyboard Application From the Card

12. You can now delete the keyboard application from your expansion card. To delete the application from the expansion card, follow the steps below.
13. Tap on the Home icon in the Graffiti area.
14. Tap the Menu icon below the Home icon.
15. If the App menu did not display the drop-down list, tap on App at the top of the screen.
16. Tap Delete.
17. In the Delete From: drop-down list, select the expansion card.
18. Scroll down to the Keyboard entry, and tap on it.
19. Tap Delete.
20. Confirm that the file listed in the pop-up window is the application that you wish to delete.
21. If it is the correct application, tap Yes.
22. Tap Done.

Tips & Warnings

• It is recommended you install the Keyboard.prc file to the internal memory on your Palm handheld.
• Running the keyboard driver from the expansion card is not recommended.
• If running the keyboard driver from the expansion card, you may receive error messages.
