How to Update Blog Meta Tags

When you want to make your blog more search engine friendly, you need to be sure that you're using the right Meta Tags (and publishing the right content). Here's an explanation of how to add and then update Meta Tags to your blog.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Log into your blogging account and go your blog template.

  2. Step 2

    Edit the HTML of your template to add the meta tags you want included.

  3. Step 3

    Add a Meta Tag for the description of your blog right under your blog's title in the heading section. The tag will look like this: .

  4. Step 4

    Add a Meta Tag for the Keywords under the description tag. The tag will look like this: .

  5. Step 5

    Save the template.

  6. Step 6

    When you want to update your Meta Tags, edit your template to change or add to the terms within the quotes. Save changes to complete the update.

Tips & Warnings
  • Tools exist online that will create your Meta Tags for you so that all you need to do is cut and paste them into your template. Try www.sumbitcorner.com/Guide/Meta/ for reference.
  • Using trademarked names in your Meta Tags can lead to lawsuits if the company who owns the trademark thinks that you are trying to “steal” their customers.
