Performing an Easy Two-Star Alignment is the fastest and easiest way to locate stars.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Press the Sun Warning Key prompt by Autostar.
Step2
Press enter to get started.
Step3
After entering the current date, press enter.
Step4
Enter the correct time along with choosing either AM, PM, or 24-hour clock (blank), then press enter.
Step5
Choose "Yes" or "No" for Daylight Savings, then press enter.
Step6
When the Alignment Option Screen displays "Setup: Align", press enter.
Step7
When the Select Alignment displays "Align: Easy", press enter.
Step8
Set the telescope in the Alt/Az Alignment home position.
Step9
Two stars are chosen by Autostar for star alignment. The First Star for alignment will be the brightest star and easiest to recognize. Use the arrow keys to focus and center the first star in the eyepiece, then press enter. Repeat the procedure for the second alignment star.

Tips & Warnings

  • If there are doubts, or something blocking the view, of the alignment star, Autostar will find another, just press the Scroll Down Key.
  • For tips on Operating Autostar's Keys, see "MOVING THROUGH AUTOSTAR'S MENUS."
  • The "Telescope: Mount" option does not need to be selected.
  • Verify that "INITIALIZING AUTOSTAR" has been performed before aligning the telescope.
