How to Play a Game Boy Advance Game on a Nintendo DS

Nintendo DS is backwards compatible with Game Boy Advance, meaning you can play a Game Boy Advance game on a Nintendo DS. It’s as simple as playing a Nintendo DS game.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Nintendo DS
  • Game Boy Advance game
  1. Step 1

    Make sure the Nintendo DS is turned off.

  2. Step 2

    Insert the Gameboy Advance Game Pak into slot 2. This is located on the front of the Nintendo DS. Make sure the label is facing downwards and is inserted fully.

  3. Step 3

    Turn the power on.

  4. Step 4

    Tap the game title with the stylus. It should show up on the DS Menu Screen.

  5. Step 5

    Play the game.

  6. Step 6

    To remove a game, first make sure the power is turned off.

  7. Step 7

    Place your thumb on the center of the Game Pak and push outwards.

Tips & Warnings
  • To avoid damaging the game or the system, make sure the Game Pak connector is free of all foreign matter before inserting.
  • You do not have to remove a DS card in order to play a Game Boy Advance game.
  • Do not turn off the system while data is being saved onto the Game Pak.
