How to Be a Successful Enchanter in World of Warcraft

Enchanting is one of the hardest and most expensive professions in the game to level, but it is also one of the most rewarding. And, at higher levels, it can make boatloads of money! So if you're ready, pick up your Dust, Shards and Enchanting Rod, and let's make some magic!

Run lots of instances. The next-easiest way to get lots of green items for Disenchanting is to run instances. Green items drop much more often in instances than they do off regular mobs, so get going! Instances are also great for experience!

Make friends with a Blacksmith. After your initial Copper Rod, you will need several Rods of progressively higher level to continue Enchanting. Blacksmiths can make these rods for you. Because Enchanting Rods are always in high demand, Blacksmiths can add a large mark-up to them. Making friends with a Blacksmith will hopefully allow you to get Enchanting Rods at cost!

Make friends with a Crafter. The primary method for obtaining Enchanting materials is Disenchanting. You can only Disenchant Green or better items, and one of the easiest ways to get items like that is from a friend who has a crafting profession like Blacksmithing or Leatherworking. They get the benefit of crafting items while you get the benefit of disenchanting them! Just make sure you give a little, don't just take.

Try not to get ahead of yourself. After the 2.0.1 patch, you cannot Disenchant items of higher level than your Enchanting skill. There's no point in clamoring to Disenchant really high-level items right off the bat; it cannot be done. Best to just let things progress naturally.

Save up some gold. Enchanting is a very expensive profession, and does not begin to pay off until higher levels. Either level Enchanting gradually, or funnel some cash in from alternate characters. Otherwise, you may find yourself broke in a hurry. You may also want to consider taking Enchanting at a higher level (say, level 40.) This will start you off with a higher financial base than you would have if you started earlier.

Build a customer base. One of the best ways to make money is to begin by offering free minor Enchants to people around the banks in the major cities. Get to know people by giving them free Enchants, then ask them periodically if they need new enchantments. Friendships and business loyalties will develop and with enough hard work, you will eventually find yourself with several loyal customers who will only come to you for Enchanting!

Make things glow! Many people are interested in simply making their weapons glow. What makes it happen is irrelevant, but offer Glowing Enchants! They make money! Minor Beastslaying is one of the first enchantments you can get that will make a weapon glow. Try out a few, you might be surprised at what can make something glow. Obviously, Icy and Fiery Enchants are the best Enchants to make things both glow and make some money, but they are pretty high level.

Sell Crafting Enchants. Enchantments that boost profession skills are always in high demand, and can fetch a high price.

    • 9

Get that Crusader Enchant! When you reach a high enough level and can save up around 300 gold (depending on server economies), get the Formula: Enchant Crusader. This is THE single most profitable enchantment to be found, hands down. It costs an arm and a leg to get the Formula, but it is ALWAYS in high demand and ALWAYS fetches a huge price! It is not uncommon to receive a 10 gold tip for doing this enchantment!
