Yahoo! Photos makes sharing photo albums with friends easy. Choose from three different ways to do it—via email, Yahoo! Instant Messenger or by changing privacy settings on your photo albums. This article will tell you how to share photos via Yahoo! Messenger.

Add people to your Friends list by entering their Yahoo! ID names into the search field. If you are adding more than one simultaneously, separate their names with commas.

  3. Step 3

Click the “Add” button when you are finished adding people to your list.

  4. Share Photos Via Yahoo! Messenger

  5. Step 1

Click on an album name in the collections list.

  6. Step 2

Click “Edit” in the taskbar, choose “Album,” then click “Instant Message.”

  7. Step 3

When the Messenger window opens, select a friend from the friends list.

  8. Step 4

Both you and your friend will be able to view the album slideshow in the Messenger window.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can share an entire album or individual photos from multiple albums. The photos you select will remain in the photo tray as you move between different albums. Note that you cannot share Smart Albums or the “All My Photos” collection via email or Yahoo! Messenger.
  • You can still maintain an online conversation via Instant Messenger while sharing photos with a friend. The photo slideshow will play alongside your conversation text.
  • Both you and your friend can stop and start the slideshow (using the "Stop" and "Play" buttons), and click on thumbnails in the Messenger window for a larger photo view.
  • While your friend can view the photos you share, they can't download them to their own computer.
  • Because the photos are no longer viewable once you close the Instant Messenger window, this is a good way of sharing photos temporarily and ensuring that no one but your friend sees them. When you share photos via email, email recipients and friends to whom they forward the message can view the album for up to 90 days.
  • People who share photos with each other are automatically added to each other's friends lists. You can share photos with people not on your friends list, but adding friends makes it easier for you to view each other’s photos and albums.
  • Only newer versions of Yahoo! Messenger allow you to share photos in this way.
