Yahoo! Photos is the largest online photo-sharing service, with unlimited image storing and a user-friendly interface that lets you upload and organize photos quickly and easily. By changing one simple setting for your photos and albums, you can publish them to a Web address so that anyone can view them. This is a great way to make sure that your friends and family can see your latest photos. Here's how to publish photos to your Yahoo! Photos Web address:

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Computer with Internet access
  • Yahoo! account
  • Image files in .jpeg or .jpg format to upload

Publish a Photo Album

Step1
Log in to Yahoo! Photos (view the link in Resources below).
Step2
Go to your collections list and click the album you want to make public.
Step3
Click “Share” in the taskbar and choose Permissions under the Album heading.
Step4
Check the box labeled Public, then click “Save.”

Publish Individual Photos

Step1
Click an album or the All My Photos collection in the collections list to open it.
Step2
Click a photo or drag and drop it into the photo tray.
Step3
Click “Share” in the taskbar, then choose "Permissions" under the Photos heading.
Step4
Check the box labeled "Public," then click “Save.”

Tips & Warnings

  • View the albums you’ve published by clicking My Albums in your collections list. Published albums will have a green globe icon in the lower-right corner. Unpublished albums will have a gold person icon. Note that you cannot check individual photos in this way.
  • You can’t publish Smart Albums or the All My Photos collection, but you can publish individual photos from these collections.
  • To check which photos you’ve published, sign out of Yahoo! Photos and then navigate to the Web address where your published photos are located. By logging out of your account, you’ll view the page as though you were someone else, so the photos you see on the page are all the ones you have published.
  • Making photos or albums public is the best way of sharing them if you don’t want to send out a lot of email invitations and if you’re not worried about privacy issues.
  • By default, people who view your published photos and albums can add comments and order prints of the photos. Click the Settings button on the Yahoo! Photos home page to change these settings. You can also allow people to add tags to your photos (although this not recommended because doing so could interfere with the way you’ve organized them). These options can’t be set individually for different photos and albums—the settings you choose will apply to every photo you publish.
  • The albums and photos you publish are viewable by anyone who finds your Web pages. If you’re not comfortable with strangers seeing your photos, use another method to share them with friends (such as via email invitations or Yahoo! Messenger).
