You can personalize your Skype account by adding information to--or removing it from--your Skype profile. The more personal information your profile includes, the easier it will be for your friends and family to find you.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Computer with an Internet connection or personal digital assistant (PDA) with Internet capabilities
  • Skype account
Step1
Log in to your Skype account.
Step2
Click “File.”
Step3
Click “Edit my Profile.” A new window containing your profile will open.
Step4
Add information to or remove it from your profile.
Step5
Click “Update” to update your profile and return to your Skype account.

Tips & Warnings

  • The information in your profile is divided into three groups: details that all Skype users will see, details that only your contacts will see and your private details.
  • Anyone who accesses your profile can see the details that all Skype users can see. You may want to add pertinent information here for the friends or family who are trying to locate you on Skype.
  • You can change the details that only your contacts will see. Select or exclude your local time or how many contacts you have if you want to keep that information private.
  • Only you can see the details you designate as private. Your e-mail address is always kept private on Skype. However, if your friends and family know your e-mail address, they can use it to search for you on Skype (your e-mail address will appear when they pull up your profile).
