Tips & Warnings

  • Don't share your password with anyone. Change your password regularly to protect your privacy.
  • Choose a password that is easy for you to remember but hard for anyone else to guess. Don't use your birthday, social security number, phone number, address or other personal information.
  • Your password must contain at least 4 characters and can include numbers, symbols and letters. Your password is case sensitive, so use a variety of upper- and lowercase letters as well as numbers and/or symbols. This makes it harder to crack. A good example of a difficult-to-guess password is My#1cat-it has a combination of numbers, symbols and upper- and lowercase letters.
  • If you have forgotten your password, Skype will send a new one to the email address registered to your account. You first must fill out the lost password form on the Skype Web site. Once you have your new password, you can change it to something you will remember by following the steps outlined above.
  • Do not write your password anywhere. If someone finds it, he or she can access your Skype account.
