As the largest online photo-sharing service on the web, Yahoo! Photos offers many features and services for organizing and sharing your photos. Once you’ve uploaded photos, you can arrange them in albums, order prints from postage-stamp to poster size, or share your photos online with friends. With the Yahoo! Easy Upload Tool, you can add one photo at a time or add entire folders by simply dragging and dropping the folder into the upload tray. Here's how to use that valuable photo tool.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Image files in .jpeg or .jpg format
  • Yahoo! account

Step1
Navigate to the Yahoo! Photos home page and download the "Easy Upload Tool." You will find the link for the tool at the bottom of the page.
Step2
Click “Upload Photos” on the Yahoo! Photos page. Choose a location for your photos. You can create a new album, add to an existing album, or simply add new photos to the default collection, “All My Photos.
Step3
If you choose the “New Album” option, give it a name and description (you must have a name, but you can edit the description later).
Step4
Click “Browse” to locate the photo files on your computer. Make sure to add photos in the .jpeg or .jpg format—check this by holding your cursor over the file until a tooltip pops up. The tooltip will identify the file size, the dimensions of the image and the file type.
Step5
Alternatively, open a folder of photos on your computer, then drag and drop its contents onto the photo tray. Using this method, you can add photos individually, or add an entire folder of photos at once.
Step6
Once you have finished adding photos, click “Start Upload" to bring them into your Yahoo! Photos album.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use the “Faster Upload” option to increase upload speed. This is a good option if you have a slow Internet connection or a lot of photos to upload in a single session. Note that your larger photos will be reduced in size if you use this feature and that the feature is only available on the Internet Explorer web browser.
  • After your upload has finished, click the “Continue” button to add names, descriptions, and tags for the photos you just uploaded.
  • Yahoo! Photos only allows you to upload image files with the .jpeg or .jpg extension. If files are not .jpg you will get an error message: “Upload Incomplete: No files were uploaded.” To convert images to .jpg, open in a photo editor such as MS Paint or Adobe Essentials, and save as a .jpg file.
